The last time I saw British-Brazilian shoe designer Charlotte Olympia was at the breakfast buffet at the Capri Palace Hotel off the Amalfi Coast. Although not adorned in her usual glamorous 1950s attire and heels, Olympia was still beautifully put together - red lipstick, blonde locks in a gentle finger wave, two children in tow. She was almost annoyingly fresh faced, especially for someone with uncombed hair and sleep still in her eyes.
The woman behind this eponymous brand is really also at the forefront of its success - she has certainly charmed Hong Kong. In just a few seasons and with the odd visit, Charlotte Olympia has gone from being a relatively unknown name to one of the most talked about brands in footwear among industry insiders.
In a major milestone for the British footwear and accessories label, a new pop-up store - or "seasonal store", as they are calling it - opened last week at Landmark in Central and will remain until the end of the year.
Playing on the kitsch, fun factor of the brand, the store design is inspired by her Cruise 2014 "Sweet Talk" collection and '50s Americana. It's candy and sherbert colours all round in an American diner-style store, complete with classic swinging doors and chequered flooring.
It's the most playful store in the entire Landmark. The products are worthy of a good gander as well. Soda Cola bottle heels, Team Spirit pompom wedges and a range of exclusive-to-Hong Kong products launched in this store.
Watch out for the limited edition Betty and Veronica pumps, inspired by the famous Archie comics.
