It may be cold out, but that doesn't mean you need to sacrifice style. Cashmere is a favourite material for winter but can look frumpy. This season, though, designers have transformed it with chic panache.

LisaT has created a cocktail dress (left, from lisat-cashmere.com that is demure at the front but sexy at the back.

Cashmere coats appeared in almost all the catwalk collections in a range of colours, from light pink at Celine to dark grey at Louis Vuitton, where cover ups were decorated with embellishments such as sequins and feathers for a more glamorous look.

Turning up the style factor, Christophe Lemaire layered his cashmere coats at Hermès with edgy materials such as ponyskin and leather.
