What’s on Hong Kong menus this month: lobster, lamb, pigeon and truffles
A dinner buffet featuring lobster, oven-roasted lamb rack washed down with pinot, and a seven-course tasting menu paired with three varieties of Krug champagne – there’s something for most gourmands this month
Promenade Restaurant at the Harbour Plaza Metropolis in Hung Hom is featuring lobster on the dinner buffet until the end of May. The selection includes lobster mousse in a savoury cone; baked potato gnocchi with lobster cream sauce; stir-fried lobster claw and queen crab leg with chilli and golden garlic; lobster and abalone bisque; and lobster egg benedict. Shirley Brooks of Elk Cove Vineyard in Oregon will host a dinner on May 31 at Lawry’s The Prime Rib in Admiralty. The dinner is HK$848 plus 10 per cent and includes oven-roasted lamb rack with spinach and Lawry’s gravy served with Elk Cove Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2013 and Elk Cove La Boheme Pinot Noir 2013; and prime rib roast with mashed potatoes and gravy, paired with the Elk Cove Mount Richmond Pinot Noir vintages 2013 and 2008. Duddell’s in Central is offering a seven-course tasting menu paired with three varieties of Krug champagne, available for lunch and dinner until July 3. Krug Grand Cuvee, Krug Vintage 2003 and Krug Rose will be served with dishes such as pork knuckle with caviar; sauteed lobster with crispy conpoy; stuffed crab shell with black truffle; fried pigeon with premium soy sauce; and fried rice with wagyu beef and scallions. Sagano at the New World Millennium in Tsim Sha Tsui is serving a green tea kaiseki dinner that’s available until the end of June.
