Hong Kong menu specials: vintage champagne dinner, Korean and Japanese dinner buffet

The French Window and Alto 88 host wine dinners, while The Clipper Lounge brings regional favourites to the table

Valentine Labarthe-Bourrie from Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck will host a vintage champagne dinner on July 22 at The French Window in Central. The six-course dinner is HK$788 plus 10 per cent and includes smoked Chilean sea bass with Ostra Regal oysters and grilled pineapple paired with the Piper-Heidsieck Rare 2002; and sous-vide French duck breast with baby leek, Thai asparagus, artichoke purée and cranberry jus served with the Piper-Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage. The Clipper Lounge at the Mandarin Oriental in Central is featuring Korean and Japanese dishes on the dinner buffet until the end of August. Each diner will receive a 40-gram piece of Japanese A3 wagyu sirloin and a 40-gram piece of Korean beef rib-eye prepared to order, while the buffet selection includes yakitori, tempura, sushi, and double-boiled chicken and ginseng soup. Alto 88 at the Regal Hongkong Hotel in Causeway Bay will have an Italian wine dinner on July 9. The five-course meal is HK$1,300 plus 10 per cent and includes sweet melon gazpacho with Sicilian red prawns and foie gras paired with the Custodi delle Vigne dell’Etna Vinujancu IGT Sicilia 2012-2013; house-made pappardelle with duck ragout served with the Le Ragnaie VV Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2008; and pigeon with Cantabrian anchovies, Italian spring onions and red chicory with the Il Marroneto Madonna delle Grazie Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2007. Until the end of July, guests who spend HK$800 or more (excluding service charge) per person for dinner at The First Floor by Lifestyle Federation in Central can partake in a blend-your-own whisky experience.
