Hong Kong menu specials: Chinese dishes with Bordeaux and hotpot with an Italian twist

Italy’s Michelin two-star chef Philippe Leveille’s special spring menu, a Chantereves wine dinner, and a British-influenced buffet among the treats

Philippe Leveille, chef of the Michelin two-star Miramonti L’Altro in Concesio, Italy, is cooking at L’Altro restaurant in Central until March 1. Leveille’s special spring menu is available as a four-, five- and six-course set meal (all served with a cheese platter) for HK$880, HK$1,080 and HK$1,280 plus 10 per cent. Dishes include mixed seafood with sea water jelly and sabayon; cold bouillabaisse with foie gras and aioli sauce; and beef tail ravioli with consomme. Bookings: 2555 9100

Bernard Magrez, owner of several chateaux in Bordeaux, will host a dinner on March 2 at Elite Dining in Tsim Sha Tsui. The meal includes braised whole abalone with broccoli, paired with the Chateau Fombrauge Saint Emilion 2012; while the fried noodles with soy sauce will be served with the 2004 and 2009 vintages of Chateau Pape Clement Pessac Leognan. Also on March 2 is the Domaine Chantereves wine dinner at Aberdeen Street Social in Central. Hosted by winemaker Tomoko Kuriyama, the four-course dinner includes beetroot with fresh ricotta and pine nut dressing, served with the Domaine Chantereves Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot 2014; and venison loin with artichoke and chestnuts with the Volnay 2012. Linguini Fini in SoHo is serving Chinese hotpot with an Italian twist. As with Chinese hotpot, this version has a choice of soup bases, such as Arthur Avenue Spicy Clam Broth, oxtail brodo, and Mama Leslie’s Sunday Gravy, and a selection of meats (including house-made sausage and marinated pork belly), seafood (such as live clams or Japanese sea urchin), noodles (including ravioli) and vegetables. The Place at the Cordis hotel in Mong Kok is featuring a Brittania buffet until March 31. The buffet includes a rotating selection of dishes such as roasted rib-eye with Yorkshire pudding and home-made gravy; fish and chips; Guinness beef stew; and toad in the hole.
