A number of restaurants are featuring seasonal white truffles on their menus. At Gold in Central, chef Harlan Goldstein is serving the expensive fungus with prime beef tartare and burrata cheese; tagliolini pasta with Italian white butter and parmesan; and handcrafted ravioli with melting egg, ricotta cheese and hazelnuts. At Amber at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, white truffles are part of a five-course menu costing HK$2,388 plus 10 per cent. The menu includes Brittany diver scallop with Jerusalem artichokes, pata negra de bellota ham and white Alba truffles; and organic egg with kabocha pumpkin purée, crispy chicken skin and white Alba truffles. Also serving white truffles are Bella Vita in Causeway Bay and Mistral at the InterContinental Grand Stanford in Tsim Sha Tsui. At the Mistral, the truffles will go with handmade beef agnolotti with hazelnut oil; milk-fed veal tenderloin with seared duck liver, baked potatoes and Taleggio cheese fondue; and chestnut parfait with mascarpone espuma. At Bella Vita, the menu includes poached egg with ham on white toast with white truffles; potato velouté with sautéed clams and white truffles; and scrambled egg toast with poached asparagus and white truffle. Bookings: 2577 0699

Hoi Yat Heen Chinese Restaurant at the Harbour Plaza North Point is serving warming winter Sichuan dishes including sautéed prawns with garlic and chilli; boiled sliced mandarin fish in Sichuan red chilli soup with spinach; sautéed frog legs with dried red chilli and assorted pepper; fried crispy sesame chicken with dried red pepper; and marinated sliced pork belly with mashed garlic. James O'Donnell, executive chef of Michael Jordan's Steak House in Chicago, will be guest chef at the Steak House Winebar + Grill at the InterContinental in Tsim Sha Tsui from November 5-17. O'Donnell's menu includes wagyu hanger steak with horseradish salsa verde; MJ's prime Delmonico 45-day dry-aged steak with balsamic vinegar jus; and 28-day dry-aged prime filet mignon with black garlic-truffle butter.
