Shorts: running season is here

The cooler weather marks the return of the running season. Here are some of the events scheduled for the next few months. Make sure to register early, as races fill up fast.

The North Face King of the Hills mountain marathon series is a four-race series that takes participants on routes you won't find on a map

Dec 16: Tai Po, 36 kilometres and 14.75 kilometres

Jan 6: Sham Tseng, 37 kilometres and 2.5 kilometres

Feb 3: Lantau, 29.8 kilometres and 14 kilometres

Mar 3: HK Island, 30.5 kilometres and 18.6 kilometres

Action Asia Events is the city's main organiser of off-road races and has some new events this season, including the MSIG HK50 series

Oct 7: Suunto Lantau 2 Peaks, Tung Chung, 21 kilometres and 15 kilometres

Oct 27: MSIG HK50, HK Island, 50 kilometres and 23 kilometres

Nov 25: Patagonia Nature Run, Tai Lam Country Park, 22 kilometres and 14.5 kilometres

Dec 8: MSIG HK50, Lantau, 50 kilometres, 27 kilometres and 14 kilometres

Mar 3: MSIG HK50, Sai Kung, 50 kilometres, 26 kilometres and 13 kilometres

Athletic Veterans of Hong Kong is a 30-year-old club that organises a number of races each year, including the popular China Coast Marathon

Oct 7: Mizuno Reservoir Race Series 1, Aberdeen Reservoir, 12 kilometres

Dec 2: Mizuno Reservoir Race Series 2, Tai Lam Chung, 15 kilometres

Jan 13: China Coast Marathon, Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung, full marathon and half marathon

Feb 7: Mizuno Reservoir Race Series 3, Tai Tam Reservoir, 11 kilometres
