To kick off World Environment Week, Hong Kong Cleanup and Ecozine hosted a cocktail party on Monday at the trendy Boujis nightclub on Pottinger Street in Central.
To kick off World Environment Week, Hong Kong Cleanup and Ecozine hosted a cocktail party on Monday at the trendy Boujis nightclub on Pottinger Street in Central. The event also marked the countdown to the 13th annual Hong Kong Cleanup challenge, to take place from September 21 to November 1.
Helping to get the party started were local celebrity couple and Hong Kong Cleanup ambassadors Anthony Sandstrom and Jocelyn Luko-Sandstrom. The pair played hosts as friends, supporters, sponsors and community members dropped by to celebrate the start of World Environment Week. A surprise guest was this writer's former secondary school teacher, Mr Muscroft, a long-time supporter of Ecozine CEO Lisa Christensen. There's nothing more likely to make a person stand up straight and mind their Ps and Qs.
There are two monolithic art installations occupying Times Square. Adorning the open piazza is , five stone-clad horses by Korean artist Seon-Ghi Bahk. Awaiting shoppers in the atrium is fellow Korean Eddie Kang's , a playful child's fantasy land. The installations are part of Times Square's fourth Korean Art Exhibition. The opening VIP cocktail reception was attended by both artists, who signed souvenir books for art lovers. Also in attendance was South Korean Consul General Cho Yong-chun.
Local rugby fans had a rare treat when a charity lunch organised by Enlighten - Action for Epilepsy brought together four legends: Tom Smith (former British and Irish Lions/Scotland captain and the charity's co-founder); Sir Ian McGeechan (renowned Lions coach); former Wallaby Mark Ella; and former All Black Joe Stanley. The lunch was held on May 31 at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. Funds raised will help raise local awareness of epilepsy.
