Leaked photos show new iPad 5 is slimmer, in space-grey
Leaked photos of new generation of iPad show a slimmer design and ‘space-grey’ colour. The latest blog post of Australian-based blogger Sonny Dickson shows some 75 photos of the new iPad from all angles, as well as the casing and interior parts.
Apple is planning to reveal the updated iPad 5 at an invitation-only event later this month, the technology news website AllThingsD reported Tuesday.
Sonny Dickson has previously made accurate Apple leaks including the new fingerprint scanner for the iPhone5s.
Dickson has said he has sources in China who send him pictures of prototype parts bought directly from workers from Apple’s factory floors.
Online, rumours are buzzing about the software improvements to the new model iPad.
One website, Macrumours, says It will be equipped with an A7X 28-nanometer chip from Samsung, increased RAM and an 8-megapixel rear camera with a larger aperture, improving picture taking capabilities in low-light conditions
UK website PC Advisor says it will weigh 500g and be roughly 7mm thick.
Tech blog AllThingsD cites sources familiar with the company’s plans as saying the new iPad will be released on October 22nd. Apple has declined to comment.
The iPad remains the largest-selling tablet, according to surveys, but its market share is being eroded by rivals using the Google Android operating system.
Apple was expected to discuss its computer operating system and its laptop line at the event, timed for the start of the year-end holiday shopping season.
Apple is coming off a wildly successful launch of two new iPhone models last month. The California firm said it sold a record nine million iPhones in the three days after launching two new versions of the smartphone.
