Japanese retail company Muji is known for its small, travel-friendly products, and this 28× 45 × 13cm backpack (HK$350, muji.com/hk-en) is a good value example. Takes 20 litres of gear.
Ideal for taking a laptop or tablet on a long flight without travelling with extra luggage, this occasional bag (HK$220, Delsey, Times Square, 1 Matheson Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 2831 8591) is also great for shopping, and folds into its own side pocket.
If you’re the type that often makes purchases when abroad without thinking of how you’re going to get them home, then this collapsible 30 litre duffel bag (HK$780, Helly Hansen, Plaza Hollywood, Diamond Hill, Kowloon, tel: 2320 5009) makes the perfect travel companion. It’s also available in a 50 litre size.
