1. Castle in the Sky

2. The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet

He may be far removed fromthe glorious days of Amélie (2001), but Jean-Pierre Jeunet shows his whimsical touch is still intact with this wacky yet poignant family film. (Opens on July 9)

3. Under the Sun of Satan

Gerard Depardieu excels as a country priest struggling with temptations in Maurice Pialat's religious masterpiece, a controversial Palme d'Or winner at Cannes in 1987. (July 11, part of Cine Fan programme)

4. Minions

The squeaky henchmen of the Despicable Me films take centre stage in this funny spin-off, which follows them "through history" — and then from Antarctica to a "Villain-Con" held in Orlando. (Opens on July 9)

5. Behind the Candelabra

It's as fitting a time to revisit this 2013 TV film as any: Steven Soderbergh's Liberace biopic is an instant classic of queer cinema. (July 12, Broadway Cinematheque)
