Alain Ducasse hosting dinner, and more Hong Kong summer specials

Rabbit and lobster dishes among those on menu of star French chef at Spoon; restaurants offer light seasonal and regional fare, and there's a deal for Kowloon crab lovers

Alain Ducasse will host a dinner on September 11 at Spoon by Alain Ducasse at the InterContinental in Tsim Sha Tsui. The six-course dinner is HK$1,688 plus 10 per cent (an additional HK$1,288 for a wine pairing) and includes warm young rabbit and duck foie gras pie; blue lobster with girolle mushrooms, salicorne and lemon. The Continental in Pacific Place is serving a six-course tasting menu for HK$680 plus 10 per cent (HK$1,100 with a wine pairing). The meal includes scallop ceviche with chilli and lime; peppered magret of duck with spinach and cherries; and apricot soufflé with almond ice cream. The dishes are also available a la carte, along with other selections such as half coquelet with fennel and chicken livers (above); and lamb chops with chilli, garlic and mint. Bookings: 2704 5211

Kudos restaurant at the Crowne Plaza in Causeway Bay is featuring Japanese dishes on the dinner buffet until August 31. The selection includes wok-fried Okinawa bitter melon and Agu pork with black truffle paste; organic tofu with sea grapes and miso; teppanyaki king prawn with sake butter sauce; braised abalone with sea vegetables; and Japanese plum wine jelly. French-Italian restaurant L'Altro in Central has a menu of light and refreshing summer dishes. Guests can taste Mediterranean red tuna with fresh cherry tomato sauce and basil sorbet; roasted baby lamb striploin with black olives and potato Napoleon; mixed seafood soup with brioche; and cherry, pistachio and coconut meringue. Promenade Restaurant at the Harbour Plaza Metropolis in Hung Hom is featuring crab on the dinner buffet until the end of August, including soft-shell crab cutlet with tartar sauce. The buffet is HK$568 plus 10 per cent (HK$368 for children) Monday to Thursday and HK$608 plus 10 per cent (HK$398 for children) Friday to Sunday and the eve and day of public holidays.
