Hong Kong restaurant specials: a tapas brunch, mushrooms galore and more

Make a date too for a September dinner featuring Rhone Valley wines, and feast on a Korean and Japanese buffet

Alchemy Restaurant and Lounge in Central has started serving a weekend brunch menu. The eight-course tapas brunch is HK$268 plus 10 per cent, and includes Sichuan pepper roasted duck with honey apple and baby onions; seared scampi with balsamic beetroot and edible flowers (above); Hokkaido scallop with artichoke purée and citrus butter; and venison carpaccio with white asparagus, pickled shallots and shaved truffles. Nicholini's at the Conrad Hotel in Admiralty is featuring berries and porcini mushrooms on its summer menu until the end of August. The Steak House winebar + grill at the InterContinental hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui will have an E Guigal wine dinner on September 9. The four-course dinner is HK$1,888 plus 10 per cent, with food and wine pairings such as pepper-crusted Margaret River lamb loin, beef lasagne and garlic confit with the E. Guigal Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2009; and a main course of charcoal-grilled US prime beef striploin with the Chateau d'Ampuis Cote-Rotie 2010 and Ex Voto Ermitage Rouge 2006. Bookings: 2313 2323

Greens Cafe at the Harbour Plaza North Point is serving Japanese and Korean dishes on the dinner buffet until the end of September. The buffet selection includes deep-fried chicken with Korean spicy sauce and assorted seafood with kimchi in spicy soup (right).
