Night owls weary of the cramped dance floors of Central, searching for that wild, free-spirited carnival atmosphere in Hong Kong need look no further. On Saturday night, the great room of the W Hotel will play host to a night of house and techno music with a difference, courtesy of Flying Circus.

Flying Circus was launched in 2006 by British DJ duo Audiofly as a way of getting their friends and peers to play together in different locations around the world. In the years since, Flying Circus events have been held in cities including Miami, Basel and Barcelona, featuring huge names from the world of electronic music, such as M.A.N.D.Y., Matthew Dear, Art Department, Nicolas Jaar, Carl Craig and Tiefschwarz - with the aim of combining new and established acts under one roof.

Audiofly's Luca Saporito (pictured, front) says some of the world's top dance music talent has performed for Flying Circus. "Even today, we can't believe the incredible reaction it has caused among DJs and crowds," he says.

In Hong Kong, the Circus will be joining forces with Franco-Asian collective Cliché Records and local promoters Small & Tall to create a lavish, opulent and potentially surreal showcase featuring a real big top.

If you're used to the more spontaneous, attitude of the European and North American festival scene and are keen to break free from the usual clubs on the island, it sounds like this one's for you. "It makes sense that we've collaborated to bring one of the most respected and exotic global dance brands to Hong Kong. Expect festival-quality line-ups that you've come to know from all three brands - along with circus-like antics," says Small & Tall director Jason Swamy.

Under a circus canopy and giant disco ball, with dancers and revellers in costumes, Audiofly will play alongside Bristol's Eats Everything and the female duo Blond:ish. Support duties will be provided by Danger, Visa and Diskokidz, as well as the usual ensemble of Small & Tall residents. Terrence Wong
