Bonnae Gokson is the founder of Sevva, C'est La B and Ms B's Cakery

"I was raised in a large home with my dad's siblings and their families. For meals we would normally gather in our casual family room, eating different Chinese and Western dishes.

When we had guests, we would serve them a big feast of our house favourites in our formal dining room, which could hold 48 people.

When we get together for dinner, my family loves to go to Chariot Club (3/F-4/F Melbourne Plaza, 33 Queen's Road, Central, tel: 2521 6271), Guo Fu Lou (Empire Hotel, 33 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, tel: 2861 2060), Shanghai Fraternity Association (1/F-3/F, South China Building, 1 Wyndham Street, tel: 2524 9246) and Luk Yu (24 Stanley Street, Central, tel: 2523 5464), where the management teams know us well.

I like trying out all kinds of restaurants with friends. But when dining out with my family, it has to be really good in both quality and service. We have been quite spoiled.

I like to sit along the booths at Liu Yuan Pavilion (3/F The Broadway, 54-62 Lockhart Road, Wah Chai, tel: 2804 2000) and eat my favourite Shanghainese dishes, such as crispy eels, steamed hilsa herring with fermented rice and soy sauce and their fried eight treasure sticky rice.

I like sitting at the bar at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon in Landmark (Shop 401, 4/F, 16 Des Voeux Road Central, tel: 2166 9000) and enjoying lobster and oursin gelée, crispy langoustine with basil or tête de veau.

I would reserve a private room at Inagiku Japanese Restaurant at the IFC Four Seasons Hotel (8 Finance Street, Central, tel: 2805 0600) to leisurely enjoy many courses of the seasonal kaiseki set.

The Sour Spicy Noodle Restaurant (116 Fuk Wing Street, Sham Shui Po, tel: 2720 8188) is where I get to see my friends sweat, have a good time and forget about how grubby the location is. They have the best saliva chicken in town and I enjoy a bowl of potato starch noodle.

But when it comes to home favourites, Sevva (25/F Prince's Building, 10 Chater Road, Central, tel: 2537 1388) is my place. Besides a great atmosphere, I can eat lobster crêpe or roast pigeon with tangerine sauce any time I want."
