BRAHMS ADDICTION: CLARA TSANG

Hong Kong cellist Clara Tsang Fung fell in love with Brahms long before she started playing the cello. "I was about 14 years old when I first heard his music. The  teenage years can be a lonely time and the music really spoke to me - it was so passionate. I was hooked from the start," says Tsang.
Her long-held passion for the German-born composer and pianist forms the foundation for the Hong Kong Cellist Society's "Brahms Addiction", which will feature a replacement pianist for Warren Lee Wai-on who was forced to pull out at very short notice through injury.
"I have loved Brahms' music for many years, so 'Brahms Addiction' seemed like an appropriate title for the recital," she Tsang.
The Brahms concert is the fourth under the Forever Red Project, a series of performances organised by the society that was founded by Tsang in 2004.
A graduate of the academy, Tsang says the audience can expect a moving show: "It will be a romantic experience - like tasting a fine wine."
The recital will include Brahms' two cello sonatas, No 1 in E minor and No 2 in F major, and also his cello sonata in D major Op 78, transcribed from his violin sonata.
