Table Talk: champagnes at the Grand Hyatt Steakhouse, barbecues at Top Deck

The Harbour Plaza Metropolis in Hung Hom is featuring Portuguese dishes on the dinner buffet at the Promenade Restaurant in a promotion that runs until July 31. Dishes such as Portuguese cottage cheese and herb tart; curry crab; Portuguese lamb stew; and serradura are on the buffet, which is HK$538 plus 10 per cent (HK$358 for children) Monday to Thursday, and HK$568 plus 10 per cent (HK$388 for children) Friday to Sunday. Loong Yuen Cantonese Restaurant at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile in Tsim Sha Tsui is serving Hangzhou dishes until the end of July. Dishes include deep-fried dried bean curd sheet rolls with sweet and sour sauce; beggar's chicken; deep-fried puff pastry with minced ham and onions; and stewed lotus root stuffed with glutinous rice in osmanthus syrup. Top Deck at the Jumbo Kingdom in Aberdeen is serving an al fresco barbecue on Friday and Saturday nights until the end of August. The selection includes iced seafood (fresh oysters, Alaskan queen crab legs, Canadian sea whelks), and barbecued meat and seafood including salmon, sea bass in banana leaves, baby back ribs with Guinness barbecue sauce, and lamb chops with rosemary and apple chutney. The Grand Hyatt Steakhouse at the Grand Hyatt in Wan Chai will have a dinner on July 25 featuring growers' champagnes - bottles produced by small, family-run estates. The six-course dinner includes baked bone marrow with onion confit, paired with the Cedric Bouchard Les Ursules Blanc de Noirs 2009; roasted pigeon breast and baked pigeon leg in filo pastry with the Fleury Blanc de Noirs 1990 in magnum; and a cheese course served with the Diebolt-Vallois Blanc de Blancs 1999. Canton, the Chinese restaurant at the Venetian Macao is serving Chiu Chow and Hakka dishes until September 15. The selection includes stir-fried shredded wagyu beef and dried fish with mushrooms and green beans; braised duck and roasted pork belly with mushrooms, bamboo shoots and ginger in clay pot; and pan-fried egg with salted pork and dried shrimp.
