Where to begin: Five hot spots to ring in the New Year
On New Year’s Eve, do you venture out and embrace the craziness or hide under your bed? For those brave souls leaning towards the first option, here are the best events

New Year’s Eve Party 2014
If you’re lucky enough to secure a spot by the windows on the outdoor terrace, The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong’s Ozone bar (right) on top of the International Commerce Centre will offer a fantastic view of the midnight fireworks. Ozone is known for hosting over-the-top events, and this New Year’s Eve party will be no exception: expect international guest DJs such as Pablo Fierro (who has recorded for famed house music label Defected Records), scantily clad performers dancing on the bar, and other distractions.

Studio 54 Party
The groovy venues mushrooming around the Sheung Wan end of Hollywood Road have brought an upmarket vibe to the area, and local institution 208 Duecento Otto will be hosting a suitably classy event on New Year’s Eve. Promising to channel the anything-goes vibe of the infamous New York nightclub, the award-winning bar/restaurant is inviting guests to make a full night of it, with two dinner options followed by what they promise will be a night of decadent partying.

Bring the Bright
The W Hotel has played host to some of the city’s best dance parties this year, so it’s only fitting that they exit 2013 with a bang.
The hotel’s Woobar will be decorated with a huge LED wall displaying visuals and the countdown to the New Year, while the soundtrack for the night will be provided by resident DJs Kenji Hidaka, Andrew Asquared and Angus Wong. Add the West Kowloon harbour as the backdrop and it could be the place to welcome in 2014.
