I know a place: Leila Chow treats herself
Andrew Sun
I enjoy Western cuisine more than Asian because I like the tidy presentation and the portions are often smaller. I also enjoy a glass of red wine with my meal to make it complete.
If I want a treat, I go to (49/F The Upper House, Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Admiralty, tel: 3968 1106), (Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 15 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2132 0077) and (102/F The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, ICC, 1 Austin Road West, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2263 2270).
However, my favourite place to eat is (17/F Lee Theatre Plaza, 99 Percival Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 2506 1018), as I am a big fan of Shanghainese food. I'm also a partner in the business, so I can customise my favourite dishes. I like the vegetable buns and the soup noodles. Honestly, I am not just "shoe shining" my own restaurant - I've eaten there for many years and I never get bored of the food.
I also like to introduce friends to private kitchen (3/F 83 Wan Chai Road, Wan Chai, tel: 2575 6966), which is owned by chef Jacky Yu. I like the plum wine that Jacky makes, it's so tasty.
(various locations including 15-19 Wellington Street, Central, tel: 2525 6338) is a place that I go for casual and quick meals. The food is yummy with reasonable prices. is another choice for a casual bite. I especially like the Wan Chai location at 23 Wing Fung Street (tel: 3528 0541).
The Peak is definitely the place I would take friends visiting Hong Kong for first time, so they can experience a panoramic view of the city. I love to bring overseas friends to the (121 Peak Road, tel: 2849 1000). It is nice to sit outdoors, especially when the warmer weather comes along. The vegetarian curry with naan bread is good.
My guilty pleasure is hairy crabs and I never go anywhere except The key for me is the vinegar, and our chef has a special vinegar mix. These days, I eat less at night to keep myself healthy. I like home cooking and my dinner usually is just rice and vegetables.
