Beauty low-down: liquid eyeliners
Eyeko - Liquid Metal Eyeliners (HK$320), at Joyce Beauty
Claim: This waterproof, paraben-free eyeliner comes in two metallic shades, Black Onyx and Rose Gold. The former can spike up your lashes, the latter doubles as a highlighter on brow bones and inner eye corners.
Helena Rubinstein Spectacular Eyeliner (HK$330)
Claim: A vinyl black eyeliner offering a lasting bold line, thanks to its waterproof, formula. An ultra-fine brush allows for precision drawing.
Shu Uemura - Calligraph:ink liquid eyeliner (HK$280)
Claim: This Japanese calligraphy-inspired pen has a very elastic brush for creating lines between 0.05mm and 2.0mm. The formula is waterproof and sweat-proof.
Verdict: We love how Eyeko's subtle shimmer helps brighten up your eyes without making it harder to remove at the end of the day. But we're not a fan of the twist-up design that makes it hard to control the amount of product you apply. It's as long-lasting and smudge-free as Helena Rubinstein's, although the latter excels with a brush that is hard and pointy, good for creating more refined cat-eye flicks. It also dries faster. Shu Uemura's handy pen offers smooth, solid lines in a single stroke for a natural finish, but it doesn't last as long, especially on oily skin.
