Beetroot tartare at Mano.

(tel: 2399 0737) has overhauled its dinner menu thanks to Michelin-star chef Frederic Chabbert, formerly of Petrus, bringing some extra class to the restaurant. The ground floor space at L Place is now enclosed with wooden doors and windows and, although it's darker inside, it has a relaxing vibe.

The menu is reasonably priced for Central and although a few dishes need some tweaking (such as duck fat fries), most are delicious. The pulled pork burger comes with kimchee, while the beetroot tartare (above) is a nice vegetarian twist on the meaty dish.

A highlight was the "bouillabaisse", featuring a whole sea bream garnished with lemon and tomato slices in a buttery sauce with potatoes.

We recommend the dessert of stewed figs, tomato and candied ginger.

(tel: 2327 5711) has expanded to Harbour City, where it is offering dishes not found in other outlets such as savoury crêpes and French toast waffles as well as cakes and pastries.

Just opened is (tel: 2796 6004) in Kennedy Town. Kinsale is the name of a port in County Cork, Ireland. The restaurant says it offers "family-focused comfort food".
