CLOSED - Restaurant review: Vuong’s French Sandwich, Shek Tong Tsui

With big servings of cheap and delicious food , Vuong's French Sandwich in Shek Tong Tsui is a great destination for those looking for a budget blowout. The place has a fast food-vibe, but the food is much better than that. It's made to order in front of customers, and has an authentic Vietnamese flavour.
There are five cold vermicelli dishes on offer, each served in a big bowl with lots of vegetables, including lettuce and carrot shreds. We liked the Vietnamese pork roll vermicelli (HK$36) and spring roll vermicelli (HK$36), in particular. The spring roll is crunchy and flavourful and the pork roll is crisp.
Customers can order sandwiches in different sizes: a full baguette (HK$69), half baguette (HK$36) or mini baguette (HK$19). The full loaf is enormous; a half baguette is certainly enough to fill one person up.
The staff don't stint on the ingredients, either. Sandwiches come jam-packed with lettuce, tomatoes, sweet and sour pickled carrot, cucumber and meat.
Coriander and chilli are offered for those who like a bit of a kick.
We especially liked the Martine Vuong Vietnamese-French sandwich, with its crunchy and aromatic bread stuffed with nine ingredients, including roasted ground pork, Vietnamese pork roll, pickled carrots, cilantro and liver pâté. The various kinds of meat such as smoky pork and roasted ground pork, go well with the house-made liver pâté.
