Taking its inspiration from the Italian Riviera, Guerlain's latest look is 'summery, colourful and glamorous'. It also marks a collaboration with Emilio Pucci, resulting in a collection of 11 products emblazoned with the Italian fashion house's signature swirl print.
The sun-kissed look begins with the new Terra Azzurra bronzing powder, applied all over the face and blended with the blusher to define the cheekbones.
'To create a natural glow, make a '3' shape along the hairline starting at the ear,' says Chester Tsung, head of make-up. 'Remember not to apply it too thick or it will look fake.'
From the ?crin 4 Couleurs eye palette, Tsung uses pink and apricot shades to complement a golden glow. 'The shimmering effect enhances suntanned skin,' he says.
The eyes are finished with a swipe of indigo Kh?l Kajal on the inner rim of the lower eyelid and navy mascara. Terracotta lip gloss comes in three distinct shades, a transparent blue that turns dark lips pink, a dark brown for a subtle shine and a bright pink to match the eye colours.
Tsung brings the look together with Guerlain's ever-popular Meteorites powder, enhanced this season with a Pucci-inspired corrective blue pearl.
'It provides natural highlighting, even if you're already tanned,' he says, dusting it on with a soft brush. 'That bit of sparkle makes everything more radiant.'
LET THERE BE LIGHT
'This season's look is ethereal and dreamy. It's about light pastel colours that look natural on the eyes,' says Jeffrey Tasker.
The global make-up artist at Laura Mercier begins the American brand's summer look with the popular Mineral Primer. 'It helps the make-up last throughout the day,' Tasker says.
He then dabs the Creme Lip Print, a smooth cream that provides a matte finish, in Nude Pink on the cheeks and in Nude Coral on the lips.
'Creme Lip Print can be used on the lips, the cheeks and the eyes,' Tasker says. 'It gives oomph back to the look and revitalises the face.'
To give the lips a glossy look, he applies two shades of Lip Glace - Lotus Blossom and Orange Tulip, both bright and bold summery colours.
For the eyes, he uses the creamy Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Turquoise as a liner and Sheer Creme Eye Colour in Mauve Pastel as shadow. To accentuate the eyes further, he applies Sheer Creme Eye Colour in Aqua Pastel underneath the eyes and Long Lash Mascara in blue.
INTO THE BLUE
Created by Tyen - the Vietnamese make-up artist, photographer and creative director of Dior Make-Up - the French fashion house's Croisette summer look draws inspiration from the turquoise sea and the sun.
'Bright colours help to create a summery look,' says Dior make-up artist Natalie Chan, who recreated the look for FACES.
Chan begins by applying 1 Couleur Eye Gloss, the first eye gloss by Dior, in tan to make the eyelids appear luminous. The long-wearing gloss is also water-resistant. She then applies the pearl grey and pink eye-shadow colours from the 5 Couleurs Croisette Edition in Swimming Pool, a selection of aquatic-inspired pastels with four pearly and one satin shade.
Chan completes the eye make-up by adding a dash of Diorshow Liner Waterproof in turquoise. 'It enlivens the eyes,' she says.
For lips, she recommends the new Pink Croisette from the Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss collection for translucent shine.
Chan completes the Croisette summer look by applying Nude Glow Sun Powder in Honey, a bronzing powder that boasts mineralised water enriched with sweet orange extract to promote a healthy glow. 'The powder can double as blush,' she says.
