Despite a chill that required a space heater in the studio, spring was definitely in the air during our cover shoot. Make-up artist Megumi Sekine chose from a range of new colours from brands such as Clé de Peau Beauté, Estée Lauder, Chantecaille and Laura Mercier.

"I've used pastels like blues, pinks and oranges because it's spring-summer, so we wanted to focus on the light colours," she says.

An easy way to replicate the look at home, she adds, is to use an eye shadow palette.

"Just buy a palette and play with it. You can mix lighter colours together or choose one light colour for all over and a darker colour to add dimension," she says.

To capture the fresh looks, New York-based photographer Hans Neumann - a former assistant to legendary fashion photographer Mario Testino - opted for warm lighting that gave a sun-kissed effect. All that was left to do was "think spring". Tama Lung
