Drawn to lips
Put down the pencils and sticks, it's all about crayons
PUR MINERALS LIP GLOSS STICK
The claim: Rich with emollients and Vitamin E, this gloss-in-a-pencil (HK$195) from the popular mineral make-up brand will condition lips as it adds colour.
The review: While not as glossy as its description would suggest, this went on easily and had a creamy texture. It wasn't as sheer as a gloss but gave a nice hint of colour. Used in place of our usual lip balm, it did seem to condition our lips, but they felt dry again after a few minutes. Tama Lung
NARS SATIN LIP PENCIL
The claim: With richly pigmented colours and a vitamin-enriched formula, these jumbo pencils (HK$220) can be used alone, as a liner or with other lip products.
The review: If you fancy a pin-up, poster girl-inspired look, these fat pencils are a foolproof way to achieve statement lips. The thick applicator deposits just the right amount of colour, and the ultra-smooth texture makes it easy to put on and conceal slightly chapped lips. It also leaves a matte finish and is available in a range of rich colours. Vivian Chen
RMK LIP CRAYON
The claim: A convenient cartridge applicator and natural, dewy texture make this an easy way to line and retouch lips at home or on the road.
The review: With a smaller tip that's closer to a pencil, this crayon (HK$210) took a little more care to apply. But once on, it had real staying power thanks to the drier texture - not unlike a matte lipstick. We liked the beige and deep rose, both of which would suit any skin tone. Tama Lung
L’OREAL PARIS GLAM SHINE BALMY GLOSS
The claim: A moisturising balm with the pearly sheen of a gloss, this easy-to-use product (HK$88) can be worn sheer or layered for a more opaque look.
The review: These crayons are almost foolproof thanks to the sheer texture and handy applicator. The sparkle is a little more than we would usually wear, but it does make the lips look a bit healthier. The creamy texture also felt nourishing on our perpetually flaky lips. Tama Lung
