A new hotel in Kwun Tong offers fresh dining options for office workers in the area.
L'hotel elan's forte presents two of Hong Kong's most popular cuisines - Japanese and Italian - on an iPad menu.
Customers can either order directly on the iPad or from one of the friendly staff.
For starters, we ordered à la carte with the fresh striped jack (HK$88) and scallop (HK$68) sushi, both very fresh and sat on especially sweet sushi rice. There was also a piece of botan shrimp sashimi (HK$98) that was plump and juicy.
Next was the unique presentation of Caesar salad with grilled chicken breast (HK$128) prepared in a large, scooped out half wheel of parmesan cheese which gained attention. The chef's speciality is hand-made herb fettucine with plump clams (HK$128) although not in their shells.
For mains, the ossobucco (HK$278) was very tender but did not have much flavour from the red wine sauce, though the Milanese risotto was delicious and al dente. An intriguing combination is the pan-roasted lamb rack with coffee crust (HK$328) and the ground coffee does not detract too much from the lamb's juicy flavours.
To finish, the Granny Smith apple tart (HK$88) was light with thin slices on top of puff pastry sticks complemented with a blood orange gelato.
