Time for celebration
The Mandarin Oriental celebrates 50 years this year and has a number of events marking its anniversary. One of the first is bringing traditional Hangzhou cuisine to Man Wah from April 20 to 28.
One of Hangzhou's top restaurants, Zhiweiguan Weizhuang restaurant is also celebrating its centenary this year, and is making its debut in Hong Kong. Managing director Dong Shunxiang and executive sous chef Sheng Zhongfei will be here, along with a team of six showcasing authentic Hangzhou dishes.
The menu includes such delicate plates as mountain home vegetarian clear soup with cordyceps, lotus root with eight treasures glutinous (right), Hangzhou beggar's chicken, and a savoury finish of noodles shaped like dragonwell tea leaves presented in a clear broth.
The set menus range from HK$568 per person for lunch to a nine-course dinner at HK$1,388 per person. For reservations call 2825 4003.
