Townhouse offers refreshing dishes and cocktails high above Lan Kwai Fong

Tracey Furniss

Gaia Group's latest offering is at the top of the new California Tower in Lan Kwai Fong. It exudes a trendy city vibe with its gold-framed bar at the entrance, full-height glass windows showcasing Central's cityscape, and a minimalist look in the dining area.

The new hot spot for cocktails, Townhouse also offers tasty bites. We started with a deliciously refreshing lychee iced tea with a rose twist (HK$62), along with cheese bread with black truffle butter (HK$48), and fries with melted cheddar cheese (HK$68). The bread was fresh and the cheese was not overpowering, while the fries were deliciously crispy.

Deep-fried foie gras (HK$98) then went well with the accompanying mango sauce, and the grilled cheese mango brûlée (HK$78) was deliciously light. The fruit salad with balsamico dressing and roasted peanuts (HK$98) is a balance of acidic and sweet flavours. For mains, the wagyu beef burger with black truffle mayonnaise and home-made pickle (HK$148), and the macaroni and cheese with baked sausage and mushrooms (HK$98) are both must-try classics.

For dessert, the wasabi chocolate mousse with lime sorbet (HK$88) offered a good balance of flavours. For cocktails, try the Dynamic Sparkle (HK$108) made with lavender-infused choya plum wine, peach liqueur, caramel syrup, cranberry and fresh lemon juice.
