Craft Brew serves up an exotic list of classic European-style sausages

Kennedy Town has another newcomer - Craft Brew & Co. It has an extensive list of local brews and imported tipples in bottle and on tap.

The restaurant sits at the corner of Catchick Street and North Street. Service was friendly. The staff were happy to offer small taster samples of craft beers. But we were there for the food and it took us some time to peruse the quite extensive menu.

We started off with snacks - loaded nachos which came with a generous dollop of avocado, spicy jalepenos and beef chilli (HK$85) and the decadent dirty duck fries (HK$65 small, HK$85 big). We gave both a “pass” tick and decided to move on to the house specialities - craft sausages or “dogs” as the restaurant calls them. The list is exotic - seven in total - ranging from the classic European-style sausages such as black forest bratwurst (HK$85), British pork banger (HK$85), spicy Spanish (HK$88), cheese kransky (H$88) to American classics such as the chilli dog (HK$85). These sausages were all made in-house.

We decided to stick with European-style sausages and our winner was the spicy Spanish (HK$68) stuffed with chorizos. It was seasoned well, juicy and nicely accompanied by grilled sweet peppers and goat cheese.

Three things to me go into making a great sausage: lots of flavourful ingredients, a decent amount of fat and proper cooking.

At Craft Brew, it seems to have got all three right. We got a very hearty meal for less than HK$500.
