TURN-ONS You can't fault the setting; part of The Repulse Bay development, from the same group as The Peninsula. The pianist hits the right note, gently playing in the background. Choose from a classic set or the à la carte menu with an array of signature dishes. We opted for the four-course classic set which included salad, soup, entrée and dessert, priced at HK$938. The Caesar salad topped with succulent grilled prawns was prepared tableside and you can choose the ingredients for the dressing - which was a nice touch. The French onion soup was sizeable, good quality broth and the grilled salmon main was top notch, melting in the mouth. The crème brûlée with shortbread biscuit and strawberry sorbet was simply the best we've tasted. There's little to dislike about the classic, European dishes, with service that anticipates your needs.
TURN-OFFS The salad and soup portion sizes were large, making it a struggle to find room for the main and dessert. Dinner-time guests miss out on the picturesque daylight view overlooking the bay, but that's a good excuse to return for lunch or afternoon tea.
DRINKS There is an extensive wine list with French wines dominating, but there are some Italian vintages plus some New World wines. For celebrations, 12 Champagnes and sparkling wines by the bottle are available. There is also a selection of signature cocktails.
