Orange crème brûlée at Paper Moon

Milan-style Italian cuisine hits the spot at Paper Moon

New restaurant offers great fare and has spectacular views of Victoria Harbour

It is about a five-minute walk from the Canton Road entrance into Ocean Terminal to the restaurant, or if driving, park at zone F and it’s just down the escalator. Once at the restaurant, the views of the harbour span two sides of the restaurant and are amazing as you are right on the water - and if you opt for alfresco dining or drinks, even better, especially at this time of year.

Paper Moon in Ocean Terminal

It was a packed lunchtime when we visited, but the staff were still helpful and efficient. We started with the deep-fried calamari and zucchini (HK$158) which was done in beer batter. It was crispy and light - a perfect small plate to go with a beer. We then went for a Pizza Edi with beef pepperoni, tomato, mozzarella, onion and French chilli pepper (HK$178). It was a typical Milan-style pizza, which was thin and crispy with two types of cheese. It was good. The tomato soup with croutons (HK$98) was a little too thick and sour for our liking. For mains, we tried the seared red snapper, which came with potatoes and mushrooms in a sauce (HK$268).

The fish was soft and tender on the inside and the crispy skin was slightly salted. The potatoes were cooked in the skin and the mushroom sauce complemented the red snapper well. For dessert, we tried a strawberry ice cream (HK$78) and a vanilla and orange crème brûlée with mixed berries (HK$88). The Milan-style of this classic dish is a lot thicker and creamier than the French version. We liked the heavier texture and orange creamy taste which balanced well with the berries. We finished with tea, but for more leisurely diners, we recommend drinks on the patio overlooking the harbour.
