Hong Kong is the seventh top city in the world for attracting creative minds and businesses, according to the Global Power City Index (GPCI) released by the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan.

Hong Kong’s free port status and its safe living environment saw the city moving up two rankings from 2014.

London, New York, Paris and Tokyo top the index, which evaluates the “power to attract” of 40 leading cities.

That said, in terms of being a desirable place for artists, Hong Kong ranks second to last, ahead only of Singapore.

Our take: Um, at least we’re beating Singapore?
