Know & Tel: Fun Kids’ Hobby Classes

Send your kids to these classes and take a break.

The Crafties: Saturday Sewing Workshop
Get your kids to learn a skill that lasts a lifetime at The Crafties’ Saturday kids’ sewing workshops (ages 6 and up). Let your kids create decorations and gifts with the help of fabric, needle and thread, and their endless imagination. It’s a great way to help kids strengthen their growing hands, and they can also benefit from learning artful composition, recognizing shapes and colors and practising their hand-eye coordination. Every Saturday 2-4pm,  1/F, Sing Kui Commercial Building, 27 De Voeux Rd. West, Sheung Wan, thecrafties.hk. $400 per child or workshops for three at $1,000 per child

YWCA: Kids Can Cook
Led by Gateway Education’s master chef Darren, the YWCA’s “Kids Can Cook” culinary class (for ages 3-6) will give kids a chance to prepare a range of delicious dishes to take home and share. Kids will have a chance to touch, smell and taste a range of different ingredients from around the world and learn a wide range of techniques. Hopefully they’ll taste good too! Certificates are awarded after completion of the course. 3/F, 1 MacDonnell Rd., Central, 3476-1340, clle.ywca.org.hk. $2,387 for seven sessions

CreativeKids: Young Architects Program
If it looks like your little aspiring architect has already mastered his or her building block set, sign ‘em up for the popular Young Architects Program by CreativeKids. This weekly program inspires children and teens to explore the built environment around us, and teach kids about existing and ancient structures and buildings, while integrating knowledge from math, science and art. Kids can experience fun-filled model-making and elementary drawings of floor plans and structures. Room 1202-05, Universal Trade Centre, 3 Arbuthnot Rd., Central, 2530-4336, creativekids.com.hk. $1,400 for 4 lessons

FlexKids: Flying Pilates
Good posture and flexibility should be trained from a young age. Flex Hong Kong provides a range of Flying Pilates classes for kids, including classes specifically designed for teens and their rapidly growing bodies. Participants learn fun inversions and hangs, which de-compress the spine and hip joints, while mentally releasing them from the stress of school. Kids can train up early for a fit and strong body, while having great fun swinging in the air at the same time! 3/F, Man Cheung Building, 15-17 Wyndham St., Central, 2813-2399, flexhk.com. $2,880/12 sessions, $260 for first time drop-in
