The whole package Not many people know this, but super-cool Swedish label Acne began as an advertising agency, so it's no surprise the Stockholm-based hipsters are rather good at presentation. Fortunately, Acne also puts as much effort into the construction and design of its clothes. We're big fans of the red short jacket (right; HK$8,000) and the patterned suit jacket (far right; HK$8,000). Acne is available at Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 3388.

Italy bound Tassels is known for its handmade English shoes but it also carries some exquisite Italian brands, such as Bontoni. For formal occasions, take a look at the Brera brogue-style shoe (left; HK$7,500), and if you're looking for something more casual, go for the Prezioso boot (far left; HK$8,500). Bontoni is available at Tassels, The Landmark, tel: 2789 9911.

Fit to be tied Every new season has at least one item that men should get fixated about, and we're hoping to steer public opinion in favour of an Hermès tie or two. Priced at HK$1,780 each, there's a startling variety of ties (right) with everything from classical designs to modern geometric and eccentric patterns. Hermès is in Elements, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, tel: 2196 8028.

Sharp tastes The English city of Nottingham has given the world two heroes: Robin Hood, the legendary outlaw in tights, and Paul Smith, whose eponymous label has had men dressing right for more than 30 years. The Paul Smith mainline collection for this season is as innovative and well-tailored as ever. Standout looks include this one comprising a cable cardigan (HK$7,600), neon yellow henley shirt (HK$4,500) and pleated trousers (all far left; HK$5,200). We also like the more eccentric look of a space-dye pullover (HK$4,500), shark tooth-print trousers (HK$3,000), navy shirt (HK$2,700) and knit shawl collar coat (all above right; HK$17,000). Paul Smith is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 2523 5868.
