Behind the label: Francesco Scognamiglio
Who started it? Italian designer Francesco Scognamiglio opened his first atelier in 1998, when he was 23. Prior to the launch of his eponymous label, the Pompei native worked with Donatella Versace, an experience he describes as a "fundamental moment in his career". Scognamiglio says his latest collection was inspired by the wide shoulders and cinched waistlines favoured by American women in the 1980s. His fans include Madonna and legendary fashion editor of the International Herald Tribune Suzy Menkes.
Why we love it: the elegant silhouettes seen marching down Scognamiglio's runway evoke old Hollywood glamour. The looks also feature plenty of the brand's signature sheer lace. Every piece is versatile and easy to wear.
What we'd pick: the feminine black dress featuring see-through lace on the sleeves (above right; HK$27,500) and the smart grey jacket (above left; HK$25,500) with cinched waist for a gorgeous silhouette.
