I’m so excited about the cooler weather that I’d like to buy myself a winter jacket. I like the look of the ones in magazines with some fur on them. Where should I start looking?
Mr Dapper: I sincerely hope you intend to travel to a wintry clime as, in my opinion, Hong Kong weather doesn’t warrant fur. Be stylish in the bitter cold with Kent & Curwen’s elegant navy overcoat with a removable fur collar (HK$37,900; Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2840 0023). Cerruti’s offerings include a leather jacket (in brown or black) with removable mink lining (HK$56,540; The Peninsula, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2369 8640), and a full black coat that mixes fur with sporty technical fabric (HK$69,890).
Mr Dandy: Yeah, that’s fine for old fogies. Check out the furcollared Black Barrett biker jacket by Neil Barrett (HK$9,899; G/F, 13 Wyndham Street, Central, tel: 2530 2115) or the boxy Facetasm jacket with cream fur collar (HK$10,899; available at I.T Hysan One, 1 Hysan Avenue, tel: 2890 7329). McQ by Alexander McQueen mixes a cool army-jacket parka with a faux fur detachable hoodie (HK$6,599; I.T). And if you like the look but not the cost of expensive brands, check out G-star’s version, with synthetic shearling lining the hoodie (HK$2,390; Leighton Centre, 77 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 3104 9099). While you’re at it, walk on over to Jack Wills for great college-style zip-up hoodies, in navy or grey, which are fully lined with a warm, shearling-like fleece (HK$1,200; Leighton Centre, tel: 3105 1798).
I hear there’s a Hackett in Hong Kong now. Where is it? And, more importantly, is it one of those deals where the prices are way higher than back home?
