Behind the label: Nohke J

Gemma Soames

Who started it: Korean fashion label Nohke J was launched in 2010 under the umbrella of Bauhaus, one of the country’s leading fashion stables. Founded by and under the creative direction of Misun Jung, it offers edgy, wellcut clothing for fashion-forward women fond of the rock-chick look.

Why we love it: delivering a killer combo of attitude and chic, Nohke J offers basics with a twist. Slim-line leggings, simple shift dresses and leather jackets all come cut in what the brand calls a “three dimensional” shape, giving interesting and flattering silhouettes. The look is understated, but packs a punch – it’s fashion that whispers rather than yells chic. If you’re a fan of Helmut Lang, Rick Owens and Haider Ackerman, then this is a label to check out – now.

What we’d pick: its signature item, the leather jacket, is a must, coming for autumn-winter in a mix of leather and wool, with a waterfall front and a killer fit (left; HK$4,980). We’ve also got our eye on the tweed biker-style jacket, with contrasting leather sleeves (above; HK$7,280).

Where you can get it: Nohke J is available at Elite, Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2506 0280.
