United states of style Few designers can pull off American West-Coast style with the aplomb of Michael Kors. And his latest resort collection is a case in point, with the stunning monochrome checked outfit of long jacket (HK$22,680), top (HK$9,480) and trousers (all far left; HK$10,280). For those who want to get in on the spring trends early, there's the bright orange, marble-print top (left; HK$10,280). Unfortunately, the shorts are not available in Hong Kong. Michael Kors is in The Peninsula Arcade, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2366 2301.

Cast in stones When it comes to shoes, Miuccia Prada nails it every season, whether at Prada or Miu Miu, where her resort collection has been turning many a well-coiffed head. The chunky, jewelled heels have already become the must-have item of early 2013. Expect style blogs to be gushing over these tall, gem-encrusted gold versions (above left; HK$18,900) very soon. For something a little less lavish, there's the navy suede sandal with a jewelled heel (above right; HK$10,650). Miu Miu is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 2523 7833.

Break the mould Treat yourself to an odd-shaped clutch from Jimmy Choo this year. Honestly, it will be quite the ice breaker at cocktail parties. The tangerine-anaconda rounded Calista clutch (above right; HK$19,600) is a bright little number, while the elongated Cosma in gold (above left; HK$15,400) is disco ball-inspired. Jimmy Choo is in The Landmark, tel: 2525 6068.

We are amused The 9th Muse store in Hong Kong is known for interesting jewellery, but the boutique carries a lovely range of other accessories, too. Take, for example, the sweet Hanbun scarf (right; HK$1,699), which mixes two off-beat prints, or the cosy and vibrantly coloured Kelia scarf (far right; HK$2,320) in baby alpaca wool, both by a label called A Peace Treaty. The 9th Muse is at 12/F, 1 Lyndhurst Tower, 1 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, tel: 2537 7598.
