Behind the label: JC/DC

Abid Rahman

Who's behind it? JC/DC is the brainchild - and comprises the initials of - French pop fashion designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac. Born in Morocco and the current Marquis de Castelbajac, Jean Charles' life is almost as fascinating as his clothes, which have been worn by the likes of Madonna and Lady Gaga. As well as clothes, JC/DC has focused his wild imagination on home furnishings and even watches.

Why we love it: the label is wantonly in love with pop culture but not in that sickly sweet way some brands plump for. Despite all the playfulness, the clothes are beautifully made and will certainly make the budding wild child or rocker stand out in a crowd.

What we'd pick: we've got a soft spot for Spiderman, so no surprises that we'd pick the jumper featuring our web-slinging hero (top right; HK$2,880). And nothing says pop quite like Roy Lichenstein, so you can't go wrong with this handmade top (left; HK$3,280).

Where can you get it? JC/DC is available at Bauhaus, 8 Granville Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2369 7890.
