As good as gold It’s very rare that we get to feature limited editions in The Goods, so we’re super excited about this handmade Piana Clerico tie (left; HK$49,995) that’s 56 per cent silk and 44 per cent gold thread. There’s only one for sale in Hong Kong, but if you miss out you can satisfy yourself with a silk bow-tie (far left; HK$4,995) instead. Piana Clerico is available at The Swank, Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2845 4929.
Top flaw If you're looking for small, independent and interesting brands, then check out Hong Kong's very own Seventy Eight Percent. Claiming to be a bagmaker with principles, it adds intentional flaws into products, which might be frustrating or charming, depending on how you look at it. We're big fans of the coated canvas Gustav messenger bag (above left; HK$2,500) and the Dimitri satchel (above right; HK$3,990) with its distinctive brown leather and dark coated canvas. Seventy Eight Percent is available at Kapok, 5 St Francis Yard, Wan Chai, tel: 2549 9254.
Rough and tumble Brunello Cucinelli may be known for cashmere products but the brand is a deft hand at more practical clothes, too. We like the rugged and outdoorsy gillet (above right; HK$18,995) and the striking aged-denim number (above left; HK$10,995). Brunello Cucinelli is in IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2311 3068.
Simple pleasures One of the main problems people have with high fashion is its incessant need to overcomplicate things - but the antidote to all that fuss is the minimalism and simplicity of COS. We like this clean look of twill cotton blazer (HK$1,900), slim-cut trousers (HK$890) and cotton shirt (all above left; HK$590). Or mix things up a little with bonded cotton blazer (HK$1,900) and layered knit jumper (both above right; HK$690). COS is at 74 Queen's Road Central, tel: 3580 7938.
