Behind the label: Feverish

Pavan Shamdasani

Who started it? As a graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, in London, and with an upbringing in South Korea, Germany and Britain, Il Jung Lee's multicultural background was part of what inspired her to found an accessory label focused on elaborate handmade jewellery.

Why we love it: flashy, over-the-top jewellery often comes off as cheap and garish, but Lee brings a touch of street-inspired class to her pieces: studded, bejewelled creations that tread the line between Ascot-friendly flowery ornaments and down-and-dirty leather-clad biker wear.

What we'd recommend: Lee's current "punk chic" collection seems inspired as much by an obsession with crocodiles as it is by the resurgent 1980s trend. The Gang bracelet (HK$4,000) mixes Swarovski crystals with metal studs and spikes on leather, while the matching Double Ring (both below right; HK$4,600) offers a similar twist with gold gems and pink fur. The silver crocodile head necklace (below left; HK$9,900) stands out with its amphibian headpiece.

Where can you get it? Feverish is available exclusively at On Pedder, 18 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2118 3489.
