Dirty looks All the hip kids will tell you that you can't have pristine, fresh-out-of-the-box trainers these days - that look is for squares. Instead of waiting to scuff up your shoes, Philippe Model has the answer, with these fatigued-looking trainers. We like the white and grey high-tops (above left; HK$2,380), which are laminated and come with a biker zip. We're also fans of the nylon yellow running shoes (above right; HK$1,880). Philippe Model is available at Bothos.
Cases for aces If you thought Bothos just made bags for intrepid travellers and budding mountaineers you'd be wrong. The brand behind the Sherpa bag has other practical yet stylish offerings such as the Gaury shoulder bag (above right; HK$3,500) in nylon, and the City Bucket bag (above left; HK$3,900) in leather and canvas. Bothos is at 20 Hollywood Road, Central, tel: 2526 9222.
Karl marks When Karl Lagerfeld isn't making the fashion and art crowds swoon with his clothes and photography, he's causing a stir by speaking his mind and telling it like it is. Whatever he's getting up to, his face is everywhere - including all over his Karl by Karl Lagerfeld menswear collection, which plays with the ubiquity of his famous visage. We like the in-your-face blue print T-shirt (above left; HK$1,100) and the more subtle but just as cheeky jumper (above right; HK$2,300). Karl by Karl Lagerfeld is available at HITGallery, Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2114 0960.
Men in blue Hermès can be relied on for beautifully cut, elegant and wearable menswear but this spring-summer what stands out most are the injections of petrol blue. A striking hue for the summer, the colour works well in the ensemble of straight coat (HK$20,400), suit (HK$25,100 for jacket and trousers), white shirt (HK$4,500) and trainers (all above right; HK$6,700). We also love how the tone makes a cameo appearance in this sporty look of baseball shirt (HK$41,900), trousers (HK$4,900), trainers (same as before) and bag (all above left), which has yet to be priced for the Hong Kong market. Hermès is in Elements, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, tel: 2196 8028.
