Who started it? Stephanedou Changleeyugin was launched in 1995 by Taiwanese design duo Stephane Dou and Changlee Yugin, both graduates of the island's prestigious Shih Chien University. The pair have spent the past 18 years building the brand into one of Taiwan's most popular labels.

Why we love it: A sense of continuity is apparent throughout their many feminine collections, with the pair creating a subtle blend of Taiwanese and retro styles.

What we'd recommend: the spring-summer 2013 collection aims for timeless designs. Not all of them meet the mark, but we like the heavy use of patterns and the classic shoes. The peplum top in coral (HK$1,720) and matching shorts (both right; HK$1,530) make fun use of polka-dot print. Similarly, the floral print shirt dress in coral (below left; HK$1,800) seems like a rare find from your grandmother's attic, while the laced Oxford shoes in black (below right; HK$1,800) would look good either for day or evening wear.
