Flat footed Repetto's first non-dance shoes came about when French bombshell Brigitte Bardot asked Madame Repetto for some street footwear that was as light and comfy as her pointe shoes. Today the brand is synonymous with the simple ballet flat and its core collection for spring is bright with plenty of fresh colours. Our favourites are the blue Sophia ballerina with satin straps (left; HK$2,300), but the line also includes pairs in sunshine yellow (HK$2,500); lime (HK$2,600); pink (HK$2,900); two-tone blue (HK$3,000); tiger print (HK$3,500); and denim (all above; HK$2,700). Repetto is in IFC Mall, tel: 2521 2068.

Coasting along In summer, many people have the words "beach" and "holiday" running on a loop in their mind, and a striped tote bag is an all but inevitable purchase. Nine West's versatile shiny patent versions come in two styles: a simple beach tote (above right; HK$750) and a more structured zip-up bag (above left; also HK$750). Nine West is in IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2234 7337.

Noble house With bags named Earl, Duchess and Duke, it would seem someone has the aristocracy on their mind. Pomp and Pleasure is the name of Anya Hindmarch's spring-summer line, and she is not kidding, given the prices for the demure and structured Bathurst range. The blue crocodile bag (top) with an enamel eye-portrait lock, for example, comes in at HK$98,800. For those with not quite so much cash to flash, there is the lovely damask clutch (above left; HK$4,600) or the Seymour bag in mustard (above right; HK$13,200). Anya Hindmarch is at Lee Gardens One, Causeway Bay, tel: 2808 0128.

Making the cut Cutouts and peek-a-boo details have been hugely popular with designers this season. Revived French label Carven, helmed by the youthful Guillaume Henry, has nailed the look with this lovely button-front dress in bronze, blackcurrant and Prussian blue habotai silk (above right; HK$7,960). We also love the sexy havana waffle cutout dress (above centre) with sweetheart neckline, although it's much pricier at HK$24,900, and the strapless number in cobalt safari illustration print (above left; HK$7,550). Carven is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 2801 4051.
