Perfect pair Finding that ideal shoe brand – with that perfect designer who can effortlessly switch between casual trainers and formal heels – is like pursuing the Holy Grail for most fashionistas. Pierre Hardy comes pretty close to the mark, with his latest collection giving us plenty to babble about. The neon pink cutout trainer (top; HK$5,695) is fun, with enough style to separate it from standard sports shoes. We also love the tricolour sandal (above; HK$5,495), a heeled affair in denim and leather. Pierre Hardy is available at Maria Luisa, Lee Gardens, Causeway Bay, tel: 2907 2028.
What knit to wear Austrian designer Michaela Buerger may be more renowned for her monochrome, casual knitwear, but she’s becoming equally adept in the world of modern jewellery. We love her latest collection, including the collar necklace with triangle detail (above right; HK$4,695), a bright blue-and-pink number straight out of 1980s New York. The collar necklace with Swarovski crystals (above left; HK$4,995) may seem formal on the surface but closer inspection reveals studs and crossthatched knitting that bring a little naughtiness to the equation. Michaela Buerger is available at Maria Luisa.
Double D Simple, subtle, timeless bags are a rare breed but Tod’s is one brand that does them well. The Italian label’s new DD Bag is a contemporary take on its iconic D bag. The latest version is available in a number of colours and sizes, but our favourites include the brown bag (top left; HK$10,900) and the sleek snakeskin version (top right; HK$36,000). We’re also into the brand’s latest range of accessories, such as the yellow-leather clutch (above; HK$4,500). Tod’s is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 2810 8692.
Spanish summer The Spanish do summers very well: long sangria-laced lunches, mid-afternoon siestas and free-flowing fashion that allows easy movement. Spanish brand Massimo Dutti’s spring-summer collection offers a number of earthycoloured pieces made with the hot months in mind. The long halter-neck dress (HK$1,490) stands out with its perfect silhouette, matched here with a straw hat (HK$490) and chain sandals (all above right; HK$1,090). For the daytime, there’s the blue striped dress (above left; HK$1,190). Massimo Dutti is in IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2805 0588.
