Take a bow "You can always tell a man by his shoes." We get it. So don't worry, we're here to help. For something unconventional, have a look at the Tuxedo loafer (top; HK$7,050), a bow-tied slip-on that looks like a modern take on 18th-century fashion. If that seems a bit much, there's the Golden Gate richelieu (above; HK$7,900), a glorious mix of fabric, suede calf leather and patent calf leather. Louis Vuitton is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 8100 1182.

Case for the man bag The man bag has divided the world of men's fashion. Some see it as a natural progression from the briefcase; for others it's an effeminate fad that should soon die out. Whichever camp you're in, the MCM Funk Rock collection has something for you, with each piece crafted out of brown calfskin leather and adorned with subtle gold detailing. The tote-shaped Shopper (above right; HK$8,800) is probably the most modern - and unisex - of the bunch. For something more masculine, there's the Backpack (above left; HK$11,800), a two-pocket 1980s throwback. MCM is in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 3101 0306.

Jacket required OK, it is going to get hotter, there's no doubt about that. But that's no excuse to go gallivanting around town dressed like a lout. Neil Barrett's blazers mix classic English tailoring with Italian style. The black jacket (above left; HK$11,500) comes with elegant thin lapels, a white pocket square and casual elastic wrist bands. For something more traditional, albeit eccentric, there's the pinstriped blue blazer (above right; HK$10,500), classically cut and with pockets large enough to handle all your accessories. Neil Barrett is available at Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 3388.

A European summer High fashion is rarely designed with tropical Asian climates in mind. The summer months are different in Paris or Milan: hot and sweaty one minute, cold and rainy the next. But with Hong Kong facing its own bizarre weather patterns this year, maybe it's time we took some sartorial tips from the Europeans. Cerruti 1881's spring-summer collection has it down pat. We like this summery ensemble of casual light-grey jacket (HK$6,590), matching shorts (HK$2,390), baby-blue shirt (HK$2,190) and belt (all above right; HK$1,195). For cooler nights out, there's the look of knit cardigan (HK$7,990) and matching scarf (HK$1,390) paired with casual black trousers (all above left; HK$2,790). Cerruti 1881 is in Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 9149.
