Two steps back Most youth movements and fashion trends have a revival at some point and, right now, grunge is back in, apparently. Cole Haan's latest collection, meanwhile, calls to mind other long-forgotten fashions such as the zoot suit, with this colourful brogue (top; HK$2,300), and the teddy boy look, with the blue suede shoe (above; HK$1,480). Cole Haan is in Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong, tel: 2265 8386.

Nautical but nice It’s crazy to think, but Jean Paul Gaultier is 61. It’s a stretch, therefore, to continue calling him l’enfant terrible of fashion as he’s one of the grown-ups in the room now; yet JPG is still in the business of provoking and keeping things interesting, as seen with the sailor-inspired sleeveless shirt (above left; HK$10,980). If that’s too daring for you, we recommend the wonderfully patterned block stripe shirt (above right; HK$5,280). Jean Paul Gaultier is in Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 0374.

Getting framed Jil Sander is the comeback queen of fashion, having returned to her eponymous brand not once, but twice, and hopefully this time it's for good. Sander's trademark minimalism is to the fore once more particularly in her new eyewear collection. We love the wayfarers that come in a variety of materials such as acetate (top; HK$2,780) and polycarbonate (above; HK$2,300). Jil Sander eyewear is available at Excellent Optical, Fok Tai Building, 24 Soy Street, Mong Kok, tel: 2385 2777.
