Indian summer Manish Arora is India's most famous fashion export, design-wise at least. His eventful runway shows in Paris have included magicians and contortionists, but look beyond the dramatics and you'll find some beautiful pieces. His signature style is bold and bright, with ethnic and traditional influences, yet the result can be quite simple, wearable shapes such as this shift dress (above right; HK$4,995) and top (above left; also HK$4,995), both of which come in a tiger and Indian jewellery print. Manish Arora is available at Maria Luisa, Lee Gardens, Causeway Bay, tel: 2907 2028.
Heights of luxury Bondage-inspired straps and black laces on heels have been a running trend for a few seasons now. If you're not quite ready to go full S&M or punk, try the luxe leanings of the dashing Brian Atwood. The shiny-haired designer has created the sexy lace-up snakeskin Tie Me Up sandal (above left; HK$5,424), which would be a great party shoe. We also like the muted tones of the natural leather strapped Dolores sandal (HK$6,288), which is zipped up at the back. The shoes are available at net-a-porter.com.
Beach girls Lazy days at the beach call for stylish, affordable pieces that will last all summer. We like American Eagle Outfitters' green colour-block triangle bikini (above left; top and bottom, HK$240 each) for its minty fresh hues. The woven tassel shoulder bag (right; HK$290) and the eyelet striped girlfriend shirt (above right; HK$390) are also lovely, versatile items. American Eagle Outfitters is in Ocean Terminal, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2730 6939.
Chain reaction A simple outfit works well for summer, even more so when it is embellished with big, bold jewellery. Bernard Delettrez is one of those go-to brands for interesting and unique designs. We love the gold interlocking chain necklace (left; HK$5,500) and also rate the stacked skull rings (left; HK$3,100 each) in silver or gold. Bernard Delettrez is available at On Pedder, 16 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2118 3489.
