Says the co-founder of online dating site Hong Kong Matchmakers: "It's a man's market. It's a candy store for them."
Ng's solutions may be summarised as follows: don't be fussy - better not to have a list of criteria; don't let him think you're too career-driven or super-busy; make yourself physically attractive; and if you're over 40, be coy about your age.
"Hong Kong women are highly educated, [hold] high-powered jobs [and] proudly identify themselves by their brawny name cards," Ng explains, categorising two types: the Workaholics, who talk about little other than work and come across as "boring and ignorant"; and the Super women, who bite off more than they can chew.
"The ironic truth is that Hong Kong men find neither of the above attractive," she adds. "They would much rather date [these women's] little secretaries, who are younger, prettier … less successful, but more relaxed and fun to be with [and] would adore them instead of waiting to be adored."
Bombshells out of the way, Ng - also a radio host and columnist - offers other practical tips for would-be wives, some of which may have occurred to some women before: namely give in order to get back; and instead of just talking all the time, listen to what your man says, too.
