Studs and stripes Karl Lagerfeld recently admitted he loved his cat, Choupette, so much that he would marry her if he could. You’ve got to love his talent for grabbing headlines. When he’s not provoking debate on interspecies marriage, Lagerfeld is still creating great clothes, and we love his latest for diffusion brand Karl. We recommend the futuristic patterned shirt (above; HK$1,800) and the rock ’n’ roll leather-collared shirt (below; HK$2,050), with studded shoulders. Karl by Karl Lagerfeld is available at HITGallery, Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2114 0960.

Just for kicks French football clubs have traditionally sucked in comparison with English and Spanish clubs. That could all change, though, with an influx of Russian and Arab billionaires splashing the cash to turn the French into contenders. Paris Saint-Germain have been particularly active in buying success and ST Dupont is not ashamed to celebrate the fact with a line of PSG-related accessories. Die-hard PSG fans will love the limited-edition pen (right; HK$2,200) and the lighters (left; HK$1,890 each) emblazoned with star names including Ibrahimovic, Beckham and Lucas Moura. ST Dupont is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 2877 4138.

Case studies It's all change at Mulberry at the moment as the brand shifts gears to become an all-round luxury fashion company. Still, its expertise is in leather goods and this season it's really outdone itself with bags such as the vintage-looking oak-coloured Elkington briefcase (above right; HK$10,500). We also love the sturdy-looking Brynmore tote bag (above left; HK$11,000), which comes with a handy detachable shoulder strap. Mulberry is in Elements, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, tel: 2196 8280.

Savile style Excitement about season four of Downton Abbey is building but we’ve never really understood the appeal. It’s slow, dull and seriously lacking in explosions and action. Game of Thrones it ain’t. However, Downton does a great service to menswear by putting English tailoring and London’s Savile Row in the spotlight. Gieves & Hawkes, located at No 1 Savile Row, is perhaps the best exponent of the Downton look and we love this ready-for-the-races casual summer outfit of light herringbone jacket (HK$9,950), stripe dress shirt (HK$3,950), white trousers (HK$2,950) and pocket square (HK$950; all above left). We’re also big fans of this slightly caddish look of light blue stripe jacket (HK$9,950), white dress shirt (HK$3,350), trousers (same as before) and navy paisley scarf (HK$1,250; all above right). Gieves & Hawkes is in IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2234 7220.
